Affrancata Posteriormente

  • The mark AFFRANCATA POSTERIORMENTE was put on the letter wrongly thrown in the post box when it was necessary to pay cash, or with stamps, the charge till the border. In these situation first, and for 8 days, the post was warning the sender through some notice on the wall of the office and then, after that period, sending to the addresse a free advice asking to pay the charge.

I think the letter sent to Narni is the first example, only three days between black and red marks, and the one to Lione the second, 17 days to delivery. After the postal treaty of 1844 between Austria and France was possible to pay the charge on arrival and this mark was not used anymore.

I'm looking for a letter with the same mark used in Milano in philatelic period till 1852: it should be black and the letter sent to other Italian States

    CIAO e BUONA PASQUA A TUTTI !!!
